It was in the 1920’s when John Robert Powers came to New York City in pursuit of a career in acting. One day, he needed to gather a group of attractive people for a magazine advertisement, not knowing that it would pave the way for what today is a billion dollar modeling industry.

He founded the first-ever modeling agency in 1923. Soon afterward, he opened the doors to the first personality development academy and created a curriculum that was to be the core for executive skills, modeling, acting, and social skills.

Powers believed that there was no such thing as an unattractive person, only people who did not know how to make the most of themselves. Naturalness was his gospel. He encouraged his female students to “make down, instead of make-up”. To date, we still believe in this philosophy. Be yourself. Be natural. Be the best you can be because that is what John Robert Powers is all about.

This school is more than just rehearsals and performances, but has built my character and integrity more as a person. Does Training Make a Difference?

All the difference in the world. The entertainment industry is fastpaced and constantly changing.Agents and directors need new faces and talent now. These busy professionals vastly prefer a well prepared candidate to one who lacks polish, experience or training.

Will This Interfere with School or My Day Job?

Not at all. For students, we believe that a strong academic foundation should always come first, and we only work with individuals who are committed to academic excellence. Our program is designed to accommodate a variety of lifestyles, from young people just starting out to working professionals looking to pursue their passion for acting. Rehearsals and auditions are scheduled during evenings and weekends, allowing you to balance your responsibilities and still excel in school or your day job while pursuing your acting dreams.

What Time Commitment is Expected?

Performers commit to a set amount of rehearsal time of 2 hours, scheduled weekly, to develop their skills and learn their scripts. Auditions and showcases with agents, casting directors or other industry professionals occur on a weekend following the rehearsal schedule.

How Many People Will be in My Class?

We take pride in presenting the best talent to the agents and managers we work with, which is why we prioritize personalized attention for each student. To ensure everyone gets the time they need to hone their skills, our training sessions are capped at 10 students. Classes are also divided by age groups, allowing for focused coaching from your celebrity coach while still providing enough classmates for effective scene study and group exercises. This balance ensures that you get the individualized guidance you need to succeed.

Will I Have to Travel?

No. The Industry Launch program is fully remote. Zoom has become the industry standard for auditions, agent meetings, and working with celebrity coaches. Previously, you had to travel to Los Angeles, which was expensive and time-consuming. Now, even top actors audition via Zoom, giving you access to opportunities from anywhere in the world, whether you're in the US, Canada, or across the globe.

I'm New to the Industry—- Will I Have Support?

Absolutely! Our corporate office is available 7 days a week to offer you full support. You'll have direct access to our Studio Directors and administrative staff, who will guide you every step of the way to ensure you're on the right path. We're dedicated to your development, as your success is a reflection of our commitment. We go above and beyond to make sure every client is fully prepared and ready to shine in the industry.

I Have Heard That if You Want to be a Model, Agencies Will Pay Everything for You to Start. Are you an Agency?

We are not an agency; training and marketing require an upfront investment of time and money, and successful models, actors, and talent recognize that learning is a continuous process, as very few agencies will cover initial costs, meaning most professionals must work hard for their success through ongoing education in their craft and the business.

What Age Range Do You Work With?

We work with a wide range of ages, starting with our children's division for kids as young as 5 years old, and extending to our adult division, which includes mature seniors. You'll be placed in an age-appropriate group to ensure you're both challenged and receiving the best possible training for your level.

Will this program teach me everything I need to know about acting?

Yes, with the Industry Launch Program, you will learn from celebrity coaches who have faced the same challenges you're experiencing now.
